In the spirit of compassion and service, the Sarvanche Hussain (Hussain is for Everyone) campaign returned for its second year, marking Muharram with a powerful message of love, care, and humanity. Organised by Anfaal Foundation, the initiative saw over 110 volunteers distributing fresh fruit packets across 12 government hospitals in Mumbai and Thane, touching the lives of hundreds of patients and their families. Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, is a period of reflection and remembrance. It honours the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (a.s.), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.), who stood against tyranny and sacrificed himself and his family in the Battle of Karbala to uphold justice and protect humanity. For centuries, people have commemorated his stand not just with mourning, but with acts of kindness and service to others. “This campaign is about spreading love, humanity, and following the path of Imam Hussain (a.s.),” said Owais Dhanji, spokesperson for Anfaal Foundation. “What better way to remember his sacrifice than by serving the sick, the most vulnerable among us?” The distribution spanned across hospitals including Sion’s Lokmanya Tilak Hospital, Cooper Hospital in Andheri, Nair Hospital in Mumbai Central, and others in areas like Mira Road, Kandivali, Vashi, and Mumbra. Volunteers shared not just fruits but hope, compassion, and heartfelt prayers with patients. Many patients, visibly moved by the gesture, requested prayers for their loved ones, reinforcing the power of faith and community during difficult times. Caring for the sick holds deep significance in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) emphasised visiting the ill as a right of every believer and a means of earning divine reward. Acts of kindness toward the sick are considered among the most beloved deeds in the eyes of God, reminding us of our shared humanity and duty to alleviate suffering. In hospitals where pain and uncertainty often linger, Sarvanche Hussain rekindled hope and unity, proving once again that Imam Hussain’s message transcends time, religion, and boundaries — his sacrifice was for all of humanity. Indeed, Hussain is for everyone.
